New Creation

2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Exactly what does it mean to be a new creation in Christ? It means our sins are forgotten because of Christ's sacrifice on the cross and subsequent resurrection for us. It means this (as I recently heard a child say it): God put the bad on Christ and put the good on us so we could live with Him forever.

2 Corinthians 5:21
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

Would you like to know how to be a new creation in Christ?

1. Admit you are a sinner (i.e.: you think, say, or do things that do not align with God's holiness)
(in case you are in doubt about this...the answer is yes, you are a sinner)
Romans 3:23
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

2. Believe there is nothing you can do to save yourself and trust in Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross and subsequent resurrection to be sufficient to forgive your sins, which deserve eternal punishment.
John 14:6
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Ephesians 2:8-9
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast."

3. Confess your sins to Jesus and trust in Him for your salvation from eternal punishment.
John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Romans 10:9
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Have you ever trusted Christ to be your savior? If not, pray to Him a prayer something like this from your heart:

Dear God, I believe you are the creator and sustainer of my life. I know I have sinned against you and that your Word says the penalty of sin is death or eternal separation from you. I believe you have sent your son Jesus Christ to take my penalty of sin so that I can be reconciled to you and live with you forever and that this is a gift of faith and not by works. I believe you died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead in victory over sin and death. I trust you for my salvation today; come into my life, I receive your gift of salvation and want to make you Lord of my life. Thank you for your goodness. In Jesus' name, amen.
